ASB excitement
Hi guys! So this is my first blog, and I'm excited to finally be on here, although it almost didnt happen again. It seems that every time I try to blog, something in the University Center breaks :) I am absolutely pumped to be participating in ASB Detroit. What we are doing here has been, and will continue to be, nothing short of amazing. I know that the impact we make on Detroit will continue to inspire others to volunteer. As the first altenative spring break in a major metropolitan area (not including the greater New Orleans area), our experience will serve as the model for all ASB's to come. Once others see what has happened here in Detroit, I can guarantee that cities across America will be clamoring for their own ASB- and this should be the goal! Every year, from here on out, there should be an ASB in any major metropolitan area that needs our help. I know how much this means to Detroit, but I also know that this type of volunteerism would mean just as much to citizens of Washington D.C., Chicago, and any city you can think of. Our goal should be to tell as many people as we can about ASB so that they not only want to volunteer, but feel like they NEED to volunteer. This ASB should be only the beginning of something special- not just in Metro Detroit, but all across America.
