Why do we gather here?

Although more than a year has passed since the devastating destruction of the hurricanes of 2005, there is still much work to be done in the Gulf Coast region. That's why United Way is mobilizing the caring power of young people from across the country to join us for ASB '07.
Last spring we sent almost 100 young people from every state in the country to regions devastated by Hurricane Katrina as a part of STORM CORPS. Over the course of their Spring Break, these young people spent a week rebuilding homes and restoring hope to communities in desperate need of assistance. But experts say it will take years - if not decades - to help residents recover and rebuild broken lives and shattered dreams. And because there's so much need - and so many good people - United Way is dedicated to helping YOU be a part of the long-term recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast.

Needs Across the Gulf Coast
United Way and its community partners in the Gulf Region have been studying the ongoing needs in the Gulf Coast since the storms hit last year. Project locations will be finalized in the coming weeks.

How to Get Involved

Can't wait until Spring Break to lend a hand in your community? United Way and its community partners are always looking for energetic, new volunteers. Find a volunteer opportunity where you live.
